Spinach & lentil blend

Recipe and Instructions:

  1. Ingredients:
    • 1 cup of fresh spinach
    • 1/2 cup of dried lentils
  2. Preparing the Lentils:
    • Rinse the lentils thoroughly.
    • In a pot, add the lentils and about 2 cups of water.
    • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 20-25 minutes until the lentils are soft.
    • Drain any excess water and let the lentils cool.
  3. Preparing the Spinach:
    • Wash the spinach leaves thoroughly.
    • Steam the spinach for 3-5 minutes until it wilts.
    • Let the spinach cool.
  4. Making the Puree:
    • Combine the cooked lentils and wilted spinach in a blender or food processor.
    • Puree until smooth, adding water, breast milk, or formula as needed to achieve the desired consistency.

Assembly:

  • Serve the puree in a bowl. You can keep some cooked lentils and fresh spinach leaves on the side for texture variation if your baby is ready.

Age Suitability:

  • This meal is ideal for babies aged 7-12 months. It introduces plant-based protein from lentils and the nutritional benefits of spinach.

Ensure the puree is at a safe temperature before feeding and always supervise your baby during mealtime.
